My new podcast Seeking, from Sony Music Entertainment is an experiment … in sound, in reporting, in credulity, and ultimately, in faith. I’m interested in the questions that keep us up at night and the lengths we go in search of answers. My sense is that to really reckon with our fears, our desires, our yearnings we have to take ourselves to the edge. And that’s what I’m doing here.

The show was born of rupture. After my brother died by suicide I started rooting around for a new logic, a container for my grief, and in my search to understand his pain and the requirements for my own healing, I stumbled down the rabbit hole of plant medicine and psychedelics. And that’s season one, the people behind today’s psychedelic renaissance and what’s lost and gained as ritualized medicines become globalized pharmaceuticals. Along the way, we meet shamans, clinicians, activists, and investors and travel from yurts in the Catskills to castles in the English countryside to a ceremonial lodge in the Peruvian Amazon.

Season two, on immortality, explores the mad dash to conquer our biological limits and what the quest for mortality tells us about our current state of anxiety. We travel to a church devoted to everlasting life, meet a cryonicist in Florida, get deep with a robot, and ultimately return to the fact that this run is fleeting and each of our stories comes to an end.
